Ranitidine HCl
Indications/Uses
Gastric & duodenal ulcer, reflux oesophagitis & pathological hypersecretion of gastric acid conditions eg, Zollinger-Ellison’s syndrome, systemic mastocytosis.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult Gastric, duonenal ulcer, reflux esophagitis 150 mg twice daily, in the morning & night, or 300 mg once daily before bedtime for 4-8 wk. Maintenance: 150 mg daily before bedtime. Prophylaxis of peptic ulcer 150 mg twice daily. Zollinger-Ellison’s syndrome Initially 150 mg twice daily.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity.
Special Precautions
Patients w/ acute porphyria. Impaired liver & kidney function. Pregnancy & lactation. Childn.
Adverse Reactions
Occasionally, headache, dizziness, malaise, myalgia, nausea, diarrhea, pruritus, constipation, abdominal pain. Confusion, gynecomastia, hyperprolactinemia, sexual dysfunction, bradycardia. Insomnia, hallucination, vomiting, skin rash (rare), leukopenia, granulocytopenia, thrombocytopenia.
Drug Interactions
Warfarin.
